British and American Accent Training

This is a class consisting entirely of Interactive activities, and provides a ‘finishing school’ for those either about to take up work in an international company or move abroad. This class consists of conversations and role- play geared to enable the students to speak English in a confident manner. This training purges some of the Mother Tongue influence, and provides students with an internationally recognized style of speech.

Currently students are meeting in evenings after work, and are preparing for life in the United Arab Emirates, the United States of America, Britain, and even China.

Coverage:

Mother Tongue Influence(MTI) Reduction:

Speaking with a noticeable accent may undermine your communication skills both professionally and socially. People may not understand what you are saying and you may have to repeat yourself. Your listeners may pay more attention to your accent than what you are saying. Accent neutralization is also a requirement for certain professions like IT, foreign aspirants, news anchoring on a national network or call center.

Accent reduction-accent neutralization involves a systematic training process focused on modifying speech patterns. This includes a professional speech evaluation followed by working on clarity of speech sounds, pronunciation, intonation and rhythm of speech. The purpose of this program is to help those, who are proficient with English language, speak with a neutral globally understood English accent or a more North American or British accent.

  • Global Accent
  • British Accent
  • Standard American English Accent
  • Neutral Indian English Accent
  • Fluency Module

This aspect of the course is designed to encourage students in their capacity to use language dynamically; that is to say in a way which is persuasive and expressive. Though a variety of exercises which put students in a position where they have to articulate an argument or position (group discussion & presentations, role plays etc), they begin to think in English rather than thinking in the native tongue and translating. This is really very important in being able to communicate at anything more than a technical level; if a person has a good vocabulary and pronunciation, but is unable to or inexperienced in using the language, they will be limited as an effective communication.
